Supplications or Duas in Islam are not merely requests for material needs but also expressions of faith, humility, and reliance on Allah’s mercy and wisdom. They are integral to the daily practice of a Muslim and play a central role in nurturing a close and sincere relationship with All. Allah Almighty in the Holy Quran has taught us the sacred procedure of supplication.

Seeking Guidance and Protection:

“Guide us to the straight path – the path of those upon whom You have bestowed favor, not of those who have evoked [Your] anger or of those who are astray.”.

Surah Al-Fatihah (1:6-7)

Seeking Forgiveness:

“Our Lord, do not impose blame upon us if we have forgotten or made a mistake. Our Lord, and lay not upon us a burden like that which You laid upon those before us. Our Lord, and burden us not with that which we have no ability to bear. And pardon us; and forgive us; and have mercy upon us. You are our protector, so give us victory over the disbelieving people.”.

Surah Al-Baqarah (2:286)

  • When Entering Home:

    • Translation: “In the name of Allah we enter, and in the name of Allah we leave, and upon our Lord we place our trust.”
  • Before Sleeping:

    • Arabic: اللَّهُمَّ بِاسْمِكَ أَمُوتُ وَأَحْيَا
    • Translation: “O Allah, with Your name I die and I live.”
  • Upon Waking Up:

    • Arabic: الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي أَحْيَانَا بَعْدَ مَا أَمَاتَنَا وَإِلَيْهِ النُّشُورُ
    • Translation: “All praise is due to Allah who has given us life after He caused us to die, and to Him is the resurrection.”

Seeking refuge in Allah  through supplication (dua) is a practice in Islam where believers seek Allah’s protection from various evils and difficulties. This act is deeply rooted in the Quran and the Sunnah (teachings and practices of Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him).
